Privacy policy for CodeKey App

 Privacy Policy for CodeKey

Effective Date: [06/03/2026]

This Privacy Policy explains how [Insert Your Name or Developer Name] ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the CodeKey Android application (the "App").

We are committed to protecting your privacy. The core philosophy of CodeKey is that what you type stays on your device. ### 1. Data Collection and Usage

As an Input Method Engine (IME) / custom keyboard, CodeKey must process the characters you type to function. However, we do not collect, transmit, store, or share your keystrokes, personal information, or typed data on any external servers.

Keystroke Data: All typing data is processed locally on your device in real-time. We do not transmit your keystrokes over the internet.

Word Learning & Predictions: CodeKey features a local predictive text engine. Any new words the keyboard learns to improve your typing experience are stored in a local database strictly within the App's isolated storage on your device. This data is never uploaded to the cloud.

Clipboard Manager: CodeKey includes a built-in clipboard manager that can save your copied text (both history and pinned clips). This data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted externally. You have full control to clear this history at any time from within the App.

2. Device Permissions

To provide its features, CodeKey requires certain Android system permissions:

Enable Keyboard (BIND_INPUT_METHOD): Required by the Android operating system to allow the App to act as a system-wide keyboard and input text into other apps.

Storage Access (Optional): If you choose to set a custom image from your gallery as the keyboard background, the App requires permission to read that specific image file. We do not scan, collect, or upload your photos.

3. Analytics and Crash Reporting

If you use Firebase or Google Analytics in your app, leave this section. If you do not use any crash reporting, change this to say: "CodeKey does not use any third-party analytics or crash reporting tools."

We may use third-party services (such as Google Play Console analytics) solely to monitor app performance, identify bugs, and understand general usage trends. This data is aggregated, anonymized, and does not contain any of your typed text or personal information.

4. Data Security

We rely on the Android operating system's built-in security and sandboxing to protect your local data. Because CodeKey does not transmit your personal typing data to external servers, the risk of external data breaches from our end is effectively eliminated.

5. Third-Party Apps

When you use CodeKey, you are using it to input text into third-party applications (e.g., WhatsApp, Chrome, your banking app). This Privacy Policy does not cover how those third-party apps collect or use the text you type into them.

6. Children's Privacy

CodeKey does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Because our app operates entirely offline regarding user data, we do not transmit or store any data from minors.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
